iOS holds 94% of the enterprise market in 4Q 2011.

Good Technolgies release quarterly smartphone market statistics based on the number of activations they see flowing through their Network Operations Center (NOC).  This data is especially useful for us to be able to gauge the real uptake of smart devices in the enterprise.  Most of the market data that is published includes the rapidly growing consumer market which can sometime skew the results.

Key Points from the report include:

• iOS tablets represented roughly 94 percent of total activations for Q4 2011
• The iPhone 4S represented 31 percent of all activations for the quater

McAfee Mobile Security for Android

Sprint and McAfee announced today that they are providing Sprint customers easy access to McAfee(R) Mobile Security and McAfee(R) Family Protection Android(TM) Edition software, which will better help them protect the important information stored on their mobile devices.

What does this mean for the enterprise in Australia we hear you ask?

Mozilla Boot to Gecko mobile OS to rival Google's Android

Open-source software development initiative Mozilla has launched an effort to develop a complete, standalone open web-based operating system optimized for mobile devices. In a post to the mozilla.dev.platform wiki page, Mozilla researcher Andreas Gal explains that the initiative, dubbed Boot to Gecko, will "find the gaps that keep web developers from being able to build apps that are--in every way--the equals of native apps built for the iPhone, Android and [Windows Phone 7]."

Good Technology releases mobile device management capabilities

 

Good Technology is pleased to announce that a new version of Good for Enterprise for Exchange server software is now available.
