MDM requires tight coordination between security and operations. The measures organizations take to implement mobile device security are mostly about ensuring that device configurations match corporate policy — for example, they check whether devices are protected by a compliant password and that the information they contain can be wiped, should circumstances call for this.

AirWatch Announces Record Results and Growth in 2011 

Last week AirWatch announced explosive growth of their global MDM customer base by more than 800% and expansion of employee base by 250% secures AirWatch’s stronghold in Mobile Device Management industry.

MobileIron shows explosive growth in 2011 

Yesterday MobileIron announced explosive customer growth and financial achievements for 2011. MobileIron increased its customer base by 600% year over year including adding 435 new enterprise customers in the last quarter. MobileIron closed the year with more than 100 of the Fortune 500 and Global 250 companies as customers. Bookings grew by more than 400% year over year and the company added over 130 new employees, doubling its size.
Rapid adoption of mobile devices and applications is driving the growth of the burgeoning Mobile IT market. IDC reports that over 80 million new smartphones and tablets entered enterprises in 2011 and forecasts that number will reach over 140 million by 2013. Trends such as Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) are making iPhones, iPads and Android devices corporate standards, and IT is now required to support multiple devices and operating systems. The ubiquity of smart devices is also driving an explosion of mobile enterprise apps.
